Who we are
Welcome To Islam is a project of One True Message Foundation (“we”, “us”), a UK registered charity (no. 1206615). We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@welcometoislam.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to support you:
- Account details — your name, email address, and (if you verify it) your phone number.
- Your journey answers — the things you tell us during sign-up and on your path, such as your stage, what you want help with, and your progress.
- Support requests — information you share when you ask for a mentor, arrange a mosque visit, or request a welcome box, including a delivery address where relevant.
- Messages — the content of conversations you have with our WhatsApp companion or support team.
- Basic usage data — anonymous, aggregated analytics about how pages are used, to help us improve the site.
How we use it
- To guide you through the early steps and track your progress.
- To match you with a suitable mentor or local mosque, and to answer your questions.
- To send the emails and messages you ask for, and to fulfil a welcome box.
- To keep the service safe and to improve it over time.
Our lawful bases are your consent (which you can withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interests in running a supportive, safe service. We never sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share information only with the trusted service providers that help us operate the site — for example secure hosting and database providers, email and messaging delivery services, and the technology that powers our support companion. They act on our instructions under agreements that require them to keep your data safe and not to use it for their own purposes.
We may also share information where we are legally required to, or to protect someone's safety (see our safeguarding page). Mentors and mosque coordinators only see the details needed to help you, and same-gender matching is applied to mentor support.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as we need it to support you and to meet our legal and safeguarding obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your data.
- Object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent.
- Ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.

Children
This service is intended for adults. If you are under 18, please use it with the support of a parent or guardian; where someone indicates they are under 18, we take extra care and may limit certain features.
Cookies
We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and keep the site secure. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
